Auckland-based casino group SkyCity has recently announced it will invest the amount of $250 million to expand Adelaide Casino. According to SkyCity, the expansion of the land based casino is imperative. After the expansion, Adelaide Casino will be able to better compete with other large casino complexes.
The expansion of Adelaide Casino goes hand in hand with the rejuvenation of the city’s riverfront precinct. It is estimated that the $1.1 billion redevelopment of the riverside precinct will draw in more tourists. SkyCity hopes to profit from this rise in tourism and draw in the crowds.
“It will enable the casino to compete on an equal footing with similar properties in other major cities, which attract millions of visitors each year,” SkyCity said for Adelaide Now. “The investment proposal will deliver increased opportunities to derive export income for the State from both regional Australian and international visitors. It would also reduce the outflow of leisure and entertainment expenditure to other States.”
As part of the $250 million expansion Adelaide Casino will get new gaming rooms, car parking, sports bars, bars and restaurants. The expansion is expected to be completed in 2013 and is expected to create new jobs for the local population.
