Pinnacle Entertainment, company that specializes in providing casinos and gaming resorts in Biloxi, Mississippi, Bossier, Louisiana, Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi and Argentina, has appointed a new CEO (Chief Executive Officer) to lead its operations. Anthony Sanfilippo is now in charge of Pinnacle Entertainment and the family of more than 8000. 51-year old Anthony Sanfilippo, former Harrah’s Entertainment executive, succeeds John V. Giovenco as the company’s CEO.
John V. Giovenco served as interim CEO of Pinnacle Entertainment since November 2009. Now that Anthony Sanfilippo is the new CEO, Giovenco has not left the company. According to Pinnacle, Giovenco will continue to serve on the company’s board. Speaking of the board of directors, it should be mentioned that Anthony Sanfilippo has also been appointed to the board of directors.
Anthony Sanfilippo’s extensive experience recommends him for the position he took with Pinnacle Entertainment. For the past 25 years the newly appointed CEO spent his time managing and developing gambling operations in jurisdictions like Louisiana, Missouri, Indiana, and last but not least, Nevada.
For the past two years approximately (since June 2008), Anthony Sanfilippo worked with Multimedia Games Inc, company that specializes in providing gaming units, content and comprehensive systems for the Native American gaming market. With Multimedia Games Inc Anthony Sanfilippo served as board member, president and chief executive.
But Multimedia Games Inc is not Anthony Sanfilippo’s greatest achievement. Before Multimedia Games Inc he served in executive roles with what can only be called the largest casino company in the world, Harrah’s Entertainment. Amongst the roles Sanfilippo took with Harrah’s we will mention the fact that he was president of Harrah's central and western divisions – position that required Anthony Sanfilippo to oversee more than twenty resorts and casinos.
"Anthony has proven management skills, extensive industry experience and in-depth knowledge of many of Pinnacle's markets,” commented Richard J. Goeglein, who has been appointed nonexecutive chairman of Pinnacle Entertainment (previously he served as Pinnacle's interim nonexecutive chairman). “In addition, Anthony has experience managing a growing base of gaming facilities and will lead Pinnacle's continued focus on operations, creating a great guest experience, and building shareholder value. We look forward to the benefit of his leadership and relationships."
