Computer Glitch at Horseshoe Casino Upsets Slots Players

As we all know, computers don’t always run smoothly and sometimes they malfunction; and it is never fun when a computer glitch occurs. This is precisely what happened at the Horseshoe Casino (located in Harrison County, Indiana). A computer system failure occurred and led to an hours-long wait for numerous slots players who could not retrieve their winnings.

The computer glitch occurred this Sunday afternoon. According to Horseshoe Casino spokeswoman Judy Hess, the problem was that the communications between the system and slot machines across the riverboat casino's four gaming floors were stalled. When the players pressed the cash-out button to get their winnings, a malfunction occurred that prevented them from getting the payout.

To address the situation casino staff had to go over to each machine, unlock the machine and pay out the winnings in cash. If the glitch hadn’t occurred the players would have received paper vouchers that could be redeem at cash machines or at one of several cashier windows.

As you can imagine, the slots players that were left waiting for their payout were not happy. Even if casino staff rushed to fix the problem, some patrons still had to wait more than an hour – which caused them to get agitated. All off-duty slots technicians were called in to help with the problem, but it took a while to manually unlock all the slots machines.

According to Horseshoe Casino spokeswoman Judy Hess, such a significant computer glitch has not happened in years. “The last thing we want would be upset customers. That's just as bad for business as can be,” Hess said. “We want to just be constantly focused on the guests having as good an experience as possible.”
